Fully automatic and pivoting, this very light tailwheel disengages and engages by itself when the 36° angle degrees is exceeded.
The wheel is mounted on a fork that rotates on itself and allows the steering of the aircraft. The steering is controlled by the pedal’s cables, which rotate a plate that is left blank without holes, so that you can decide the position of the cables hooking. The plate controls the fork movement and consequently to the wheel.
However all pilots know, that in this condition is not possible to take the aircraft in the hangar, because the tail wheel, bounded by the cables, does not allow to reverse, or a U turn of 180° maneuver with the brakes. The solution was to create a cam mechanism inside the tailwheel shell that, beyond the 36° angle degree (on each side), frees the control plate from the fork and therefore the wheel is free to turn on itself.
From any condition, when the aircraft does taxi maneuvering, even for a short time, in a rectilinear way, the mechanism automatically re-engage and the wheel becomes again bound to the cables, allowing full control of the aircraft
The swivel mechanism is weather sealed to keep out moisture, sand and mud.
All components are available as spare parts.
All components are milled by CNC machines from solid 2024 aeronautical aluminum.
The tailwheel shell includes a standard hydraulic grease fitting, to keep lubricated the internal mechanism.
