- 3 INCH TAILWHEEL WITH AUTOMATIC RELEASE TUBE NECESSARY

TAILWHEEL FOR TAILDRAGGER AIRCRAFTS.

Our tailwheel is fully automatic and has a pivoting function, i.e. it releases and re-engages by itself when the steering angle exceeds 36 degrees.

Functioning: the pedal is connected via cables to a plate of the tailwheel which controls the steering. A mobile pin makes it integral with the fork.

If the pedalboard is held straight, the tailwheel is also straight. If the pedals are pressed, the tailwheel forces the aircraft to steer.

However, if a smaller turning radius is required, the tailwheel is forced to steer more and the cam inside the tailwheel moves the bolt that disconnects the control plate from the fork and therefore the tailwheel becomes free to steer.

This allows you to turn the aircraft by pivoting on a wheel (by braking a wheel of the main landing gear) or to turn the aircraft 180 degrees, even without the pilot sitting in his seat, but simply by orienting the tail and dragging it to the side. This operation is typical of when the aircraft is moved inside the hangars.

.

Then when the aircraft taxis, even for a short time in a straight line, the mechanism automatically re-engages and the tailwheel becomes bound to the cables again, allowing full control of the aircraft. The whole mechanism is greased, sealed and protected from dirt.

The leaf spring housing is 45mm

All spare parts are available

The 3″ rim is made up of 2 semi-circles machined from solid block of aluminium which houses watertight ball bearings for Ø 9.5 mm diameter axle.

It includes stainless steel allen screw

Finishing: black anodized

It includes 2.50 – 3″ 4 ply tire and inner tube or no tube in the STS version

Total weight 2.245 gr.

Maximum static load allowed 60 kg.
